What is Atorvastatin?

Common side effects of Atorvastatin may include pain in the bones, spine, joints, or muscles, pain or burning sensation during urination, muscle spasms, upset stomach, trouble sleeping, stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, diarrhea, nausea, or pain in the arms or legs.

Serious side effects of Atorvastatin that require immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat) or severe skin reactions (fever, sore throat, burning eyes, skin pain, red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling).

Atorvastatin can also cause the breakdown of muscle tissue, leading to kidney failure. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by fever, unusual tiredness, or dark urine.
