Sunshine on Your Plate: Foods Rich in Vitamin D

Cod Liver Oil:

Cod liver oil is a concentrated source of vitamin D, as well as omega-3 fatty acids. Just one teaspoon (5 ml) of cod liver oil can provide around 450 IU of vitamin D, which is more than the recommended daily intake for adults. However, it’s important to note that cod liver oil is also high in vitamin A, so it’s advisable to follow dosage recommendations and consult with a healthcare professional if considering supplementation.

Egg Yolks:

Egg yolks are a nutritious and versatile food that contains a moderate amount of vitamin D. One large egg yolk provides approximately 40 IU of vitamin D. Keep in mind that vitamin D is primarily found in the yolk, so opting for whole eggs is more beneficial than consuming only egg whites. Including eggs in your diet can contribute to your overall vitamin D intake.
